RIP Trish Keenan of Broadcast fame.

I loved this live rendition of “Corporeal” despite the muffled sound and dark look. Now it’s the aptly surreal closest I will ever come to seeing this great avant-garde Brit-rock outfit live. Singer Trish Keenan has died at the all too young age of 42 (supposedly pneumonia). “Entertainment Weekly” of all pubs broke the news to me. It’s a truly sad loss to the international indie rock scene.

Broadcast had evolved so interestingly from the mid-90s. From a spooky retro-60s modern sound of Work & Non-Work to their decidedly more experimental noises of their last project with the Focus Group. A new Broadcast album was supposed to follow 2009’s Broadcast & The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age last year, but that never appeared. Hopefully the band have finalized the album and it will eventually surface posthumously.
